“I have wanted to make some pure ambient music for a long time, but my usual schedule prevented that from happening. Lockdown created the space and time for me to fulfil that wish and it was such a defining and contemplative experience that it has now become a mainstay in my future work.”
We are today pleased to release the Ambient Meditations ep by Steve Miller, aka Afterlife.
Over the past few months we have introduced you to the more ambient side of Steve’s’ music in the form of two singles from the ep -The Lost Birds and Everest. The ep features two more beautifully meditative and ambient tracks.
About the first, Secret Life, Steve says:
“I grew up as a classical pianist but never really enjoyed playing other composer’s work except for J.S.Bach where I really loved playing his fugues. I think if he were around today he would love sequencing. After piano practice I would just sit at the piano and play simple bass notes that rang out for a long time and enjoy how the harmonics of each note fused together. I used to call it “Piano Yoga”.”
Whilst Singularity (see below) reminds Steve of his regular flights to Los Angeles listening to the comforting drone of a 747, looking down over the ever changing and spectacular scenery which never failed to enthral him with the diverse natural beauty of the planet.
