“Ambient music for me is a refuge, an ethereal escape from the all-too hectic world we live in. I am always seeking to create soundtracks for environments, both existent and imagined.”
The Green Kingdom is Michael Cottone, a graphic designer and sound artist based in Michigan. Michael is Interested in creating compositions which blur the lines between soundscape and structure while keeping a sharp focus on melody. His pieces are crafted using a variety of instruments, electronic sources, sampled textures and field recordings.
Michael’s aim when creating ‘La Mer Verte’, was to capture the hypnotic motion of a calm sea, perhaps in the same way as it’s inspiration, Debussy's ‘La Mer’. With its gentle rippling sounds both soothing and fragile, it seems to almost caress you in the gentle waves of a tranquil sea.
We are honoured that he has chosen to contribute to The Ambient Zone.
